The Phlebotomy Technician program at Health Training Center can be completed in as little as 11 weeks. For the first eight weeks of clinical training, students will be provided instruction on the necessary skills and information for a job as a phlebotomist. Some of these skills include venipuncture procedures (blood draws), specimen and blood collection, quality assurance, infection control, body systems, and skin puncture techniques. Following the classroom experience, each student will complete the course with a three week externship where they will get the opportunity to use their skills in a real-life setting in the field. After their successful completion of the phlebotomy technician course, students should be prepared to work in an entry-level position in a physician’s office, clinic, hospital, laboratory, or other medical setting.
