The Phlebotomy Technician program at Health Training Center can be completed in as little as 11 weeks. For the first eight weeks of clinical training, students will be provided instruction on the necessary skills and information for a job as a phlebotomist. Some of these skills include venipuncture procedures (blood draws), specimen and blood collection, quality assurance, infection control, body systems, and skin puncture techniques. Following the classroom experience, each student will complete the course with a three week externship where they will get the opportunity to use their skills in a real-life setting in the field. After their successful completion of the phlebotomy technician course, students should be prepared to work in an entry-level position in a physician’s office, clinic, hospital, laboratory, or other medical setting.

Phlebotomy Technician Externships
Health Training Center requires certificate Phlebotomy Technician program students to complete an externship in order to graduate. The externship is fundamental to the program for each student, providing them with the chance to perform the skills that they have been given instruction on in the classroom. The externship also provides employers an opportunity to assess students’ skills prior to hiring entry-level allied health professionals. Externships are part of the curriculum and guaranteed! Health Training Center offers a variety of allied healthcare programs to accommodate many of the needs of a variety of students. We know that you are ready to get out in the field fast; that’s why our programs only include the skills that you need to get out there.
The program can be completed in just 15 weeks. Students receive direction from experienced instructors on phlebotomy, EKGs, basic medical, lab and exam procedures, and basic patient care. Graduates of this program can become Clinical Medical Assistants by completing one additional class and the MA externship. Upon successful completion of the program, students should be prepared for entry-level job opportunities in a variety of medical settings.
